Based at the stables of European silver medallist for some time now, sBs stallion Toscan de Ste-Hermelle (Surcouf de Revel – Gazara de Ste-Hermelle x Bayac de Ste-Hermelle) will be returning to competition under the saddle of Grégory Wathelet (BEL) at the two-star Oliva CSI in Valencia (ESP). Bred by Raymond and Adeline Lefevre from Gouy-lez-Pieton, the 13-year-old debuted with Rik Hemeryck (BEL) in 2010 but since July 2012 has been regularly well placed in the hands of Constant van Paesschen (BEL). The pair contributed to the Belgian team’s win at the CSIO5* Nations’ Cup in Rome, Italy, in May 2014. Thirty-five-year-old Wathelet’s career began as a young rider in 2001, and his first senior championship appearance came when competing for Belgium at the 2006 World Equestrian Games in Aachen (GER). He was also a member of team Belgium during the London 2012 Olympic Games riding Cadjanine Z.
