The mare with one of the biggest hearts currently on showjumping’s world stage has made history in Aachen by being the only participant who also competed in the London 2012 Olympic Games. Sancha LS (Chin Chin - Sonora La Silla x Polydor) was just nine-years-old when she carried Daniel Bluman (27) to a top-20 place in his Olympic debut. The La Silla-bred mare has carried Blumen – a Colombian-born Israeli who earlier this year chose to switch nationalities and will now represent Israel – to some of his greatest sporting moments, including the 2014 World Equestrian Games in Caen, and the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto where they finished 11th individually, team 5th. Having had some time off last winter to recover from a leg injury, Sancha jumped clear in Aachen’s Turkish Airlines Prize on day one, but Bluman is now waiting for tomorrow’s Rolex Grand Prix to give her the first major test of the year. Sancha is following in the footsteps of her illustrious sire, Chin Chin, who was himself an Olympian (Seoul 1988 and Barcelona 1992 with Mexican Jaime Azcarraga).
