French showjumping chef d’equipe, Philippe Guerdat, has announced his team that will travel to the Rio2016 Olympic Games. There was absolutely no doubt about the first three: Simon Delestre – currently the world’s number one ranked rider – with Selle Français Ryan des Hayettes/aka Hermes Ryan (Hugo Gesmeray - Ryonne des Hayettes Z x Ryan d’Anzex, bred by Haras des Hayettes); Pénélope Leprévost and the Belgian Warmblood Flora de Mariposa (For Pleasure - Adeline x Power Light, bred by Herman de Brabander); and Kevin Staut riding Reveur de Hurtebise (Kashmir van’t Schuttershof - Laika du Radoux x Capricieux des Six Censes, bred by Severine Siraux ). However, with several top horse-rider combinations vying for the fourth team place, Guerdat’s decision was less than certain and finally went to Roger-Yves Bost and the young Sydney Une Prince (Baloubet du Rouet - Girl d’Elbe x Alfa d’Elle, bred by Marius Huchin and Danielle Prince). Philippe Rozier and Rahotep de Toscan (Quidam de Revel - Fanny du Mûrier x Laudanum xx, bred by SCEA du Vieux Noyer) will be the team’s travelling reserves. Guerdat has, nonetheless, said he will leave the door open to a possible last-minute change for ‘Bosty’, already with two Olympic appearances under his belt, as he has two other long-listed horses in Myrtille Paulois (SF: Dollar du Mûrier - Rita La Rouge x Grand Veneur, bred by Agnes Grosz) and Quod’Coeur de la Loge (SF: Ideal de la Loge - Fana de la Loge x Tenor de la Cour, bred by SCEA Elevage de la Loge), even though he is favouring Sydney.
