Next month’s Mondial du Lion – the FEI-WBFSH eventing World Breeding Championship for Young Horses – will also host a competition for ‘The Promising Eventing Horses’ for three-year-olds. This new initiative, following on from the huge success of the French riders at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, has been created through a cooperation between the Selle Français the Anglo-Arabian studbooks, the Mondial du Lion and France Complete, with a common project goal of identifying the best horses in this age-group who display great aptitudes for eventing, and inspiring breeders and buyers alike that the French circuit is the place to be. During the Lion d’Angers event, these young eventing prospects will be assessed using four criteris: model, free jumping, gaits under saddle, and jumping under saddle. The Mondial du Lion runs from October 19-22 at one of the most glorious eventing sites in Europe.
