Mares Shine at Spruce Meadows ‘National”

Mares have been omnipresent during the first days of the Spruce Meadows ‘National’ tournament in Calgary, with Kent Farrington’s Gazelle (Kashmir van Schuttershof - Diva ter Elzen x Indoctro) winning Thursday’s major class in the international ring, the 1m55 ATB Financial Cup. It was truly an international field in terms of bloodlines, with France, the Netherlands, Germany and Mexico well represented by sires. There is also no avoiding the fact, when looking at the complete entry list for the prestigious Spruce Meadows’ summer series of tournaments, that Paul Schockemöhle’s name tops the list of breeders by a substantial margin – with Chacco-Blue being the top-named stallion.
