The globally well-known KWPN Stallion Show which has just concluded in ’s-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands, once again saw a huge equestrian festival, with sold-out galas to celebrate new young talents as well as honouring older, proven equine celebrities.

In showjumping, 49 stallions were awarded testing tickets with VDL rejoicing in presenting the champion – a Kannan x Indoctro son bredby J. van Gestel. A group of 38 dressage stallions were selected, including one descending from Blue Hors Zack out of a Negro mare bred by Stal 103 and owned by Center de Horst. Honouring Negro with the ‘Stallion of the Year’ title, the show was inundated with ‘Negro-effects’ with an impressive, fairytale farewell by Olympic champion Valegro and Charlotte Dujardin. For the younger audience members, the latter participated in a meet-and-greet autograph session. Full results and report will appear in the March issue of Breeding News.
