Johnny Boy II retires

As it is a little over a year now since Johnny Boy II (Dollar du Mûrier - Quina des Bruyeres x Night and Day xx) last appeared in competition, his breeder, owner and rider have decided to retire the 19-year-old Selle Français stallion. His dam, Quina des Bruyeres, competed in Nations’ Cups under the saddle of Patrick Martin, brother of Jean-Marie Martin, who bred Johnny Boy by embryo transfer. Standing tall at 1m74, Johnny Boy is a great-grandson of the legendary Almé via paternal grandfather Jalisco B, and although he has so far sired fewer than 100 offspring, he has produced successful showjumpers and eventers, as well as dressage competitors. His career will now focus on breeding at the Sainte Marie stud farm, "passing on his power, very good movement and remarkable mentality”, according to Jean-Marie Martin - studforlife.com
