A triumph for mares dominating the podium, and a celebration for the Belgian Sport Horse studbook (sBs) as 10-year-old HH Azur (Thunder van de Zuuthoeve - Sion van de Zuuthoeve x Sir Lui) carried McLain Ward (USA) to the 2017 World Cup title in front of a home crowd in Omaha, Nebraska. The pair recorded a perfect score over four rounds to finish ahead of Twentytwo des Buiches (2007/SF: Mylord Carthago - Twenty One x Kalor du Bocage) and Switzerland’s Romain Duguet. The third-placed mare in this triumvirate was Henrik von Eckermann’s Mary Lou 194 (2006/Westf: Montenegro - Pina-Colada x Portland L). The breeders in finishing order are: Nathalie Beaufort, Mylene Martin, Hubert Nienhaus – another victory for females!
