Triumph for Hanoverians at WBCYH, Ermelo, Netherlands, over the weekend, claiming two out of the three age-group crowns, plus a vice champion’s title. In the five-year-old division, victory went to Don Martillo (Don Juan de Hus x Benetton Dream) who gave a flawless performance. Bred by Axel Windeler and ridden by Ann-Christin Wienkamp, the black stallion – who won the four-year-old Bundeschampionate last year – had already led in his qualifier, twice receiving perfect tens for his trot from the judges. In the six-year-old division, it was Lordswood Dancing Diamond (Dancier - Wolkenstein II), also with a convincing performance, under the saddle of Anne-Kathrin Pohlmeier. The black gelding was bred by Horst Ebeling. Finally, Spain’s Severo Jesus Jurado Lopez steered Fiontini (Fassbinder x Romanov) to a second title by winning the seven-year-old age group with a convincing, if not perfect, test for the athletic Danish Warmblood mare. Bred by Hanne Lund and Henrik Hansen, Jurado Lopez has great hopes for Fiontini’s future: “She is so talented and has so much quality – in the arena she is even better than outside of it, that is a fantastic feeling for a rider.”
