The 11-year-old Belgian Warmblood mare Gancia de Muze (Malito de Reve [SF] - Barones [KWPN] x Nimmerdor) carried Niels Bruynseels (BEL) to victory in the CSI Basel Longines World Cup in Switzerland on Sunday, January 15. The father of two sons, 33-year-old Bruynseels remarkably finished nearly a second faster than Great Britain’s ‘master of speed’ John Whitaker riding Holsteiner Onellaia (For Pleasure [Hann] - Kleine Cera x Calato) and Australia’s Edwina Tops-Alexander with Lintea Tequila (Campbell - Orania II x Corrado II). The top-placed home rider in the fast jump-off was Martin Fuchs riding the 11-year-old Cornet Obolensky son, Clooney 51, a gelding out of Fraulein Vom Moor x Ferragamo.
