Bellagio – colt champion

For the first time in the studbook’s history, Zangersheide organized a French edition of their Z-Festival at the beautiful Haras de Hus, near Nantes on August 6. More than 40 foals were presented to German judge Hans Meyer (GER) alongside rider Gilles Botton. The very nice bay Cassandra M’Aurea Z (Crown Z x Visage van de Olmenhoeve) won the fillies category. Bred by Valérie Moré (Haras M’Aurea, Britanny), she is out of a French dam line, and her breeder also ranked fourth in the same category with Crickette No More Z (Corico Z). Many good colts were also presented and selected by the jury, including offspring of Carthago, Cornet Obolensky, Baloubet du Rouet, Malito de Reve…. However, with nice type and good locomotion, victory went to the handsome Bellagio Classic Z (Balou du Rouet x Chacco Blue x Carthago) bred by Emmanuel Spinnewyn. He comes from Holsteiner dam line  104A (Corland, Contendro , Corradina, Retina…), while his young dam is a half sister to the stallion Brantzau VDL. It’s likely he will be sold at the Z Quality Auction during the WBFSH in Lanaken in September. According to Zangersheide studbook director Tom Lemmens, talking at Haras de Hus, "We will organize a stallion approval in Deauville, the same as last year, and we hope a new edition of the Z-Festival in France with more and more foals”.
