“We’re very saddened to let our breeders and friends of Chaman know that the stallion passed away on Saturday afternoon (June 29)” said Ludger Beerbaum.

After his daily routine of breeding, exercising on the horse walker, and grazing in the paddock, the 20-year-old KWPN son of Baloubet du Rouet out of an I Love You dam passed peacefully in his stable in the late afternoon.

According to Beerbaum, “I associate many fond memories with Chaman. He was easy and very nice to ride.” The pair shared a special partnership with numerous wins, including the German Masters of Stuttgart, the Grand Prix of Lyon (FRA), Lausanne (SUI), Ebreichsdorf (AUT), Wiesbaden (GER), and the Global Champions Tour legs of the Vienna Masters (AUT) and Valkenswaard (NED). Chaman amassed winnings of around €1.8 million.

The stallion was retired in 2017 at the age of 18 during the international indoor horse show in Riesenbeck.
