The Holsteiner bred Cardento (Capitol – B-Estelle x Lord, Stamm 741, bred by Reimer Witt) had a remarkable career in sport and in breeding. Cardento's results in sport speak for themselves: Athens 2004 Olympic Games vice champion; 2001 European vice champion in Arnhem; and 2002 World team runner up for Sweden in Jerez de la Frontera – all under the saddle of Peter Eriksson. Besides being an excellent sport horse he was also an outstanding breeding stallion. According to many riders he might have been the best Capitol I son for producing sport horses, siring over 100 1m55 and better jumpers – three having already placed at 1m65. Cardento has also produced 24 approved stallions. (A forthcoming issue of WBN will include a complete Cardento profile).
