Emulating his 2012 victory, the winner of the Basel Championship at the 8th Longines CSI in the St. Jakobshalle is Sweden’s Rolf-Göran Bengtsson with Casall (Caretino – Kira XVIII x Lavall I). The Holsteiner stallion was the oldest horse in the competition, but in the jump-off he was the best over the 1m55 course. It has been an enduring and hugely successful partnership, with Casall/Bengtsson second at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games in Hong Kong – following a nail-biting jump-off against Eric Lamaze/Hickstead – and the European championship title in 2011. In total, the pair has banked a total of around $5 million in prize money!
