Abdullah al Sharbatly takes over the ride on Contifex

Contifex (Cornet Obolensky - Cora x Coronino).

Continuing his collaboration with Syrian rider Ahmad Hamcho, Abdullah al Sharbatly (KSA) has taken over the ride on Contifex (Cornet Obolensky - Cora x Coronino). In 2008, the 13-year-old stallion qualified for the five-year-old final in Lanaken before making his international debut under the saddle of Irishman Denis Lynch. Bred by Ursula Krampe-Brugger, the stunning dark bay Westfalian has been in the hands of Hamcho since 2013, with their best result coming in 2015… third in the 1m60 three-star CSI-W World Cup Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi. Apart from a small summer tour in 2015, the pair have not competed in major competitions outside the Middle East – a situation that will soon change with Sharbatly’s hands on the reins. Contifex will also be joined in his new stable by the 10-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding HHS Dublin (Ard Douglas VDL - Full Tilt x Cavalier Royale). Bred by Miguel Bravo, Dublin started with Hughes in 2014, moved to Emma O’Dwyer (GBR) for the first half of 2015, back to Hughes for several months, then briefly with his breeder in August 2015 before heading to the Middle East and Sameh El Dahan (EGY), and finally Amre Hamcho (SYR) in 2016. He has become something of a puissance specialist, recording his best results in the CSI3* Six-Bar in Vichy, France (second), and a win in the Saint-Lô puissance one month later. www.studforlife.com
