The Zangersheide stallion approvals combine the initial selection and the licensing in one event. From the 12 presented two-year-olds, the judges Eric Levallois, Luc Tilleman and Heinz Meyer, approved four stallions. Including Lethago Z (Levisto Z - Caraconda ST Z x Carthago, bred by J.H.M. Custers) who showed a lot of quality. Of the 42 presented three-year-old stallions they approved seven.  According to Heinz Meyer, “We had I think a good selection – from the 22 stallions who came back for free jumping we selected 11 to be approved. A total of 15 stallions were presented under saddle and I find that very interesting. You can learn more about a horse under saddle, about their rideability and their canter than when a stallion is free jumping.” Eric Levallois and Heinz Meyer were both impressed by the three-year-old Jappaloep SA (Eldorado van de Zeshoek - Cuyleinge Z x Coriano, stamm 671, bred by TH Sanders Peeters),saying; “He has a really nice type, showed a good canter and a good jump. It was a complete horse.” Eric Levallois also mentioned Carlos (Cascadello I - Bodina W x Balou du Rouet, bred by H.G. van Wijlck) as a very promising three-year-old.
