GERMANY (by Helga Eppler) The Southern German saddle licensing during the Marbach Weekend on November 8/9 licensed five stallions out of the 16 presented. The price highlight of €45,000 ($55,986) at the subsequent auction was achieved by the five-year-old Diamond Hit daughter Diamond’s Delia H.

Licensed were Can Play (Casall [Holst] - Nice G x Under world xx) with best basic paces and excellent in free-jumping. His sire is by the foundation stallion Carentino who, in turn, is by the Cor de la Br yère son Caletto II. Bred by Er win Knoll from Hohenstein and exhibited by Volker Brodhecker, Rioedstadt, Can Play has inherited good Thoroughbred blood from Underworld xx (Riverman xx), a great grandson of the legendary Nasrullah xx.

Del Rey (Desperados [Hann] - Heartbreaker x Herzensdieb [Trak]) is a dressage prospect sired by Olympian Desperados, from the great Donnerhall line, who has already proven himself as a great stallion in both breeding and sport. This premium stallion passed his 30-day test with highest marks of 9.00 and 9.50. In sport, partnered with Kristina Sprehe, he has become Olympic, world and European team champion, and consistently scores over 80 percent at Grand Prix level. Del Rey was bred by Peter and Jane Bartram from Benalla and exhibited by Jen Meyer’s stallion station in Dorum.

Frohsinn (First Selection [Westf] - Eloyse M x Ehrentanz I) is likewise a dressage prospect by First Selection (First Final - Fiderika x Fidermark), going back to foundation stallion Florestan (Fidelio). His dam’s sire Ehrentanz I (Ehrentusch - Fantasie x Frühlingsrausch) competed with success at Prix St. Georges level. Frohsinn was bred and is owned by Volk- mar R. André from Hirschhorn.

Illuminati S (Imperio [Trak] - Delila [Bayern] x Fürst Heinrich [Westf]) has inherited best dressage blood via his Trakehner sire Imperio, who was Federal four-year-old vice champion, five-year-old champion, as well as a bronze medal winner at the World Breeding Championship for Young Horses in Verden. The dam’s sire Fürst Heinrich (Florestan I - Dawina x Donnerhall) exerts an extraordinary and disproportionately positive influence on the breeding of successful dressage horses. Illuminati was bred and is and owned by the Main and Regional Stud Farm Schwaiganger.
